When Stormy said the theme was shifter weddings, I was stumped. So many characters, so many choices, lol. But Dean and Matthew from the Cloverleah series were such a sweet couple and as I was in the mood for sweetness, I decided to write about them. You can read their full story in Book 5 of the Cloverleah Series, Getting Close to the Omega. Thanks for the opportunity to share this story, Stormy, and for all your amazing hard work in making this competition a reality J
Forever Till The End
“Well, this is unexpected.”
Dean turned and saw Aelfric lounging against his doorframe, Fafnir peering over his shoulder. He shrugged and smiled, turning back to his mirror. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I can’t get this tie to sit straight.”
“You. Sitting there all calm like this was just another day.” Dean was turned in his chair, Aelfric’s breath on his face, as the blond fae fixed his tie.
“I’ve got nothing to worry about.” Dean smiled as he caught his reflection. His Armani suit was freshly pressed, his pale pink shirt collar sitting stark against the charcoal gray. His shock of auburn hair fell loosely over half of his face, but that wasn’t anything new. He was scrubbed up and in love; that showed in his eyes. Hopefully Matthew would be suitably gob-smacked.
“Aelfric was worried you might be having issues. There’s a lot of people coming today.” Fafnir, the darker of the two Fae had perched himself on the bed Dean normally shared with his mate. “You don’t usually do well in crowds on your own.”
Dean felt his heart stir. Fafnir and Aelfric had been good to him from their first meeting when the two Fae liberated him from Kylan; a beta wolf-shifter with delusions of being an Alpha. He was thrilled when they found their third in Cloverleah; the enigmatic Jax. “I appreciate the visit guys, but Matthew’s going to be there. I know he won’t let me down.”
“It’s your wedding day, or mating ritual, or whatever you want to call it. It’s a big deal,” Aelfric insisted. “Are you sure you’re not getting, oh, what do they call it…cold feet?”
“You’ve been reading stuff online again, haven’t you?” Dean shook his head. The two Fae would never look human; they were too beautiful, their features too perfect to not have people wondering if there wasn’t something “other” about them. But since mating Jax, he’d insisted they try and learn more about fitting in the human world. That included learning to drive instead of zapping everywhere; going out on dates, movie nights and even shopping; something Aelfric particularly enjoyed.
“Matthew said this was the shifter version of a wedding.” A slight blush colored Aelfric’s cheeks. “I didn’t want Faf and I to do something to embarrass you on your big day.”
“Me embarrass him?” Fafnir punched Aelfric on the arm. “If anyone’s likely to embarrass him it’s you. Or did you forget at the barbecue last week when you sneezed and Kane got covered in coleslaw.”
“I cleaned him up,” Aelfric’s cheeks were bright red now. “Besides, it would have been fine if I hadn’t tripped over Killer at the same time. You know it’s impossible to sneeze with your eyes open, even for people like us. It was Killer’s fault, damn dog.”
“Guys, it’s okay, really.” Dean interrupted, not wanting anything to spoil his big day. “I really appreciate you coming to visit and no, I don’t have cold feet as you call it. This is for Matthew; My mate, my one and only. I don’t need a ceremony to know he loves me, but this is something he wants to do and I can’t say no.”
“Did he put on his puppy face?” Fafnir chuckled as Aelfric widened his eyes impossibly wide and pouted.
“Not quite like that, no. He proposed, just as if we were having a human wedding like Josh and Vadim’s.”
“Ooh, tell us.” Both Fae leaned forward expectantly. “Did he get down on one knee?”
“Did he have a ring for you?”
“Did he say lots of mushy things?”
“Did you blow him after you said yes? I would’ve.”
Dean felt his own cheeks heating. The Fae weren’t keen on anyone seeing them have sex but Aelfric talked about it a lot. “It was all very lovely,” he said, remembering the night with fondness. “Matthew had already arranged it with Kane before I even knew about it. He cooked me a lovely dinner and yes, he got down on one knee. He didn’t give me a ring because I’d lose it if I shifted, but he did get me this lovely expandable necklace.” Tugging it out from his collar, Dean showed Aelfric and Fafnir the elaborate chain with expanding links holding a small gold pendant with a pair of hearts on it.
“Aww….” Aelfric wiped a tear from his eye. “That is so sweet. So, did he blow you while he was down there, because, hey, opportunity and all that.” He waggled his eyebrows and Dean knew he was blushing.
“What happened next is none of your business,” he said with a laugh. “Shouldn’t you be down with the others? Kane will be up here soon.”
“It’s nice the alpha offered to walk you down. Yeah, come on Aelfric, let’s go and see if Jax has got Matthew sorted. That man can’t knot a tie to save his life.” Fafnir stood up, pulling Aelfric up with him.
“You know we’re happy for you, right? After what you did for me and Faf, you’ll always be part of our family.” Aelfric paused at the door. “If anyone deserves a happy ending it’s you.”
“We’re all destined for happy endings in this pack,” Dean smiled at his friends. He refused to think of the hassles the pack was going through or that Matthew was forced into a mating ceremony rather than a proper wedding because his life was still in danger. “Tell Matthew I love him and will see him shortly.”
With a wave and a smile, the two Fae disappeared, probably to track down Jax. In keeping with human tradition, Matthew insisted they spend the night apart. Dean didn’t like the idea, but he’d do anything to keep his mate happy. Matthew told him of the hugely long discussion he’d had with Kane and how Kane had vetoed Dean leaving pack grounds so they could get married under human laws. While Dean had loved Josh and Vadim’s wedding and Griff and Diablo’s too, he was just as happy to stand in front of the pack and declare his love for his mate.
“You look wonderful. Oh, my goodness, Kurt, doesn’t Dean look so handsome. Wow, you’ve grown up so much since we met; not that you weren’t a grown up then, but wow, you’re stunning in a suit. Kurt, Tobias, isn’t he stunning? Just look at him.”
Dean’s face cracked wide as Luke came bounding into the room; his mouth running nineteen to the dozen as always. His mates, Kurt and Tobias followed, with baby Ollie, in his human form today, looking smart in a miniature suit. “Come here, little one,” he held out his arms for the tiny bear shifter. “Let me look at you all dressed up.”
“I don’t know who long that outfit’s going to last,” Luke said, biting his lip. “But I told him, didn’t I tell you Ollie, that today is for human forms and if you don’t rip your suit before the ceremony is over you can have a huge piece of cake.”
“I’m not sure that’s much of an incentive,” Tobias said quietly as he came over and gave Dean a hug, avoiding squashing Ollie who was picking at Dean’s necklace. “We just came to see if you need anything. Claude’s here with some of his pack, Damien and Scott arrived about thirty minutes ago courtesy of Shawn’s fingers and the rest of us are just setting up outside. You do look very handsome.”
“Thanks.” Dean accepted the hug and then passed Ollie back. He loved the little bear shifter but he’d spent a lot of time pressing his new suit and he wanted to look good when Matthew saw him. “You all look very spiffing yourself.”
“This is so exciting,” Luke threw open his arms. “It’s not just a mating ritual, there’s….” Kurt slapped his palm over Luke’s mouth, glaring at him.
“We’d better go,” Tobias said, giving his mates a fond glance. “Luke loves it when so many of his friends get together, but we don’t want to blow the surprise, do we sweetheart?”
Luke shook his head, his eyes wide above Kurt’s hand. “He means well,” Kurt said gruffly, “but sometimes he doesn’t realize surprises aren’t surprises when everyone knows about it.”
Dean was a bit worried about the “surprise” too. Matthew explained they were having a mating ritual ceremony and while it wasn’t an Alpha ceremony like Kane and Shawn shared, and there wouldn’t be the contenders fighting him for a chance to have Matthew, like Griff had done when he mated Diablo, he thought it would be a normal ritual.
Shaman Paulo, from the Denver pack was coming to officiate; the pack would all be in attendance, standing around the ceremonial stone circle as was the wolf shifter way. The only difference was that Kane offered to escort Dean to the circle because Matthew wanted to meet him there.

Can be read as a standalone.
Botis, demon lord and ruler of sixty legions is having a rough day. Lucifer set him on a quest to find the potion given to Gilgamesh thousands of years before, which should be easy enough. But being told a visit to the Angel Raziel was a necessary part of the mission wasn't so easy to understand. Everyone knew that demons and angels didn't mix, and angels were strictly off limits for his kind. Which was a shame because the moment Botis set eyes on the sexy Raziel his imagination ran into overdrive.
Raziel has a cruisy life. As the Angel of Secrets there aren't many who darken his door with requests for finding strange artifacts any more, but he's content. He has his shop, his taxi and his good friends, Anael and Uriel. Having Lucifer in his cab was the first sign things were about to change, but when Botis walks into his shop, Raziel starts to seriously reconsider his angelic abilities. No demon should be able to tempt him, so why was he affected by Botis's sheer presence?
Soon enough, Raziel and Botis learn their meeting was no accident. With forces at work beyond their control, they have to learn to rely on each other if they are going to beat the odds stacked against them. But how is that possible when Raziel's untouchable, and Botis doesn't have a heart?Warning: Graphic M/M content.
Raziel dropped his wrench through the engine, and cursed, almost hitting his head on the hood of his taxi as he stood up. He crouched and peered below the bumper. Too much to hope that it’d fallen where he could reach it. He wiggled half under the vehicle, his hand straining to reach the tool he needed.
“My, my, that is a sexy sight.” No. It couldn’t be. Ever since Anael revealed his connection to the demon the night before, Raziel had refused to discuss or think about anything remotely connected to Botis. It was the weekend; he didn’t need to open his shop or drive anywhere and he had a list of chores he’d decided to tackle after his sensuous dreams starring the demon forced him from his bed before the birds. Now the wretched man was stalking him in his garage!
Scuttling out from under the car, Raziel stood, brushing a hand through his messy hair. “This is my private space,” he said with as much firmness as he could muster. “You’ve no right being here.”
“Oh, I think I do,” Botis said, leaning on the garage doorframe, his teeth in perfect view. In contrast to his leather club look, or the suit he’d worn when he’d visited Raziel’s shop, the white muscle shirt, blue jeans and black boots were a welcome change. His long black leather coat was the only concession Botis’d made to the chilly air. “I’m sure you got the memo. Head Office has decided you and I are the penultimate match. I’ve come to claim what’s mine.”
“Not in this lifetime,” Raziel said, hefting his wrench. He was overwhelmingly conscious of his ripped jeans and t-shirt and he wouldn’t be surprised if he had grease on his face. “Anael mentioned he saw a connection between us, but I’ve put in a call to Gabriel. I’m sure this will all be sorted out soon enough.”
“But you want me,” Botis said, his smile getting wider. He tilted his sunglasses onto the top of his head, which shouldn’t look sexy but it did. As Raziel expected Botis’s eyes were black but their flames were hot, vibrant. “You don’t like it, but you want me something fierce. I’m more than happy to oblige.”
“I’m an angel, built to withstand temptation from the likes of you,” Raziel said, knowing every word Botis said was true. “I was never intended to be a demon’s casual plaything, and nothing you’ve said convinces me you want anything more. Do you deny it?”
Raziel watched as Botis went to open his mouth, probably to spout a set of lies. The sort of lies any demon would tell to achieve their objectives. But the demon never said anything. In fact, it looked as though Botis was trying to speak, but couldn’t.
“You can’t lie to me?” Suddenly the playing field was a lot more level. “You can’t, can you?” Raziel added when it seemed like Botis tried to say something else but his mouth wouldn’t work. “You were going to give me some cock-and-bull story about us being mates; wanting us to be together forever, just so you could get into my pants, but you can’t say the words.”
“No, I can’t, and that means I’ve been changed in a way that’s just not cool,” Botis snarled. “Don’t you get it? This doesn’t just impact me. We’re both more fucked than I thought we’d be. I’ve got to talk to Lucifer, but believe if I have anything to do with it; you won’t be seeing me again. There’s no way I’m giving up my life for a fuck, even with an angel as hot as you.” With one last scorching look from those mesmerizing eyes, and a flare of his leather coat Botis disappeared.
